Joy, stress, defeat, triumph, anxiety – this is just a small sampling of what I experienced or saw this past weekend.
I’m a swim mom. My two daughters are competitive summer swimmers, and this past weekend was their regional championships. This is the meet where swimmers qualify to compete in the provincial championships. The stakes are high.
It’s interesting to see how parents talk to their kids in this kind of situation. One of their kids may need reassurance and hugs before a race. And one of their other kids may need tough love.
It’s because we know our kids are individuals and have different personalities and motivations.
What works to get one child ready to race, won’t necessarily work with another child. The coaches know this too.
It’s the same when talking or writing to adults. We need to communicate in a way that works for them. This is why it’s important to know who our one reader is.
In today’s video, I’ll show you some examples of copy that speaks to their specific audience.
If your current copy is trying to speak to everyone, you might be losing your perfect customers – the people who are most likely to buy from you.
Enjoy the video. I’m off to wash more towels.
